Meet Sarah Whiteacre, Product Owner at Monoova. We asked Sarah to share a couple things she loves about working at Monoova and some surprising fun facts about herself.
What do you like most about working at Monoova?
There’s a lot going on in the world of payments, I love working in such an innovative space. Then there’s the social aspect. We have a lot of fun as colleagues and friends but also get down to work and collaborate really well together.
How would you describe Monoovians in 3 words?
Fresh, Fun and Future-Focused
What does a typical day in the Product team looks like?
Product is great, there’s a lot of variety in my days. The start of my day is usually stand-up with the engineering team and after that it could be anything from a call with a customer to gather feedback, discussions with internal stakeholders like our legal and finance teams, or working with our business analysts to scope out upcoming work for the team.
Payments can be quite a dry topic, over the last year what have you learned about payments that has surprised you?
I've worked in Product for 5 years but this is my first time in the payment space, and it’s been really interesting seeing how much innovation and collaboration is happening. Not just within the individual fintechs, but across the industry, we’re all working together towards a shared goal - to make payments better for consumers and businesses. I think that’s really exciting.
What is your favourite part of your role?
The variety, I get to work with people from acrossthe entire business. There’s always a new challenge to learn from.
Most memorable moment at Monoova?
It’s not a specific moment, but all of the people I’ve met and friends that I’ve made since being with Monoova are definitely memorable. 😊
Favourite way to spend a day off?
Either a day hike in the blue mountains or a day at the beach with a good book.
Last book you read?
I’m currently reading ‘The Mosquito – a human history of our deadliest predator’.
What’s something you’re planning on doing but haven't done yet?
I was planning to explore Nepal and Bhutan in 2020but the pandemic had other ideas. So that’s pretty high on my list.
Are you a cat person or dog person?
Cats all the way. I have 2 lovely kitties (Rupert & Francesca)
